Layer thickness gauge
A layer thickness gauge is used to measure the thickness of a coating or of a surface. The underlay under the coating or surface can be made of several different materials such as glass, plexiglas, ferrous metals and non-ferrous metals.
A layer thickness gauge is a common tool to use for, for example, powder coating. The gauges task is to ensure that the varnish is applied in the correct thickness. If there is too much varnish, the paint may have difficulty to attach and start to come off. This, in turn, can lead to the material starting to rust because the varnish does not cover and protect as it should.
In addition to protection against rust, the thickness of the varnish also affects how flexible and shock-resistant the product is. A layer thickness gauge is also suitable for checking the strength of coatings such as enamel, polytetrafluoroethylene and zinc. You can also use the gauge to check how the paint layer is on a painted surface.
Measurement object and accuracy
In our range you will find several models of layer thickness gauges. We have gauges that are for walls and other large objects that can be made of cast iron, aluminum, copper, plexiglas and glass, among other things. You will also find gauges for non-magnetic coatings that are suitable for the car industry, for example. The standard for the accuracy of the gauges is 3-6% depending on which model you use.
If you need higher precision, we have models with off-accur technology that give you an accuracy of as little as 1%. Many of our layer thickness gauges have memory for several measurement values, which means you can easily get values for min, max and average. The gauges also have selectable units of measurement that allow you to choose whether you want to see the result in millimeters or inches, perfect for you to adapt the unit to your business.
Accessories
At Vetek you will also find a wide range of accessories for our layer thickness gauges. Among other things, we have external sensors for hard-to-reach places, ultrasound contact gel and materials for calibration. You will also find data transfer programs and transport bags that make it easy and convenient to carry the gauges with you.
